THE BIBLE TEACHING ON BAPTISM


INTRODUCTION:

Much teaching has been done on the subject of  baptism.

It has been written about in creed books, yet little truth has been preached.

The Bible is the book we should go to learn about baptism.

I. WHAT IS BAPTISM?
A. Men may give a lot of different ideas. They may say it 
is sprinkling, pouring, or immersion, or they may say it 
is some church-ordained act.
B. It is obedience to a positive command. Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15,16; Acts 2:38; Acts 10:48.

II. BIBLE BAPTISM REQUIRES:
A. Water. Acts 10:47.
B. Much water. John 3:23.
C. Going to the water. Acts 8:36.
D. Going down into the water. Acts 8:38.
E. Coming up out of the water. Acts 8:39.
F. A burial. Rom 6:4.
G. A resurrection. Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12.
H. Being planted. Rom. 6:5.


III. PURPOSE OF BAPTISM.

A. Cleanse. Eph. 5:26.
B. Into Christ. Gal. 3:27.
C. Remission of sins. Acts 2:38.
D. Saved by baptism. 1 Pet. 3:21.
E. Wash away sins. Acts 22:16.
F. Walk in newness of life. Rom. 6:4.
G. Saved. Mark 16:16.
Baptizo - is the Greek word for immersion; immersion 
is baptism.
Rantizo - is the Greek word for sprinkling; sprinkling is 
rantism.
Cheo - is the Greek word for pouring; pouring is cheism.
Sprinkling - is not found.


IV. WHO MAY BE BAPTIZED.
A. Those who may be taught. Matt. 28:19.
B. Those who believe. Mark 16:16.
C. Men and women. Acts 8:12.


CONCLUSION:
A person must be baptized (immersed in water) to be saved from the guilt of past sins and get into the body that Christ saves.

7. How does it worship? spirit and In truth. (John 4:24;  ACTS 2:42. Acts 20:7; Col.3:16: Ephesians 5:19; 1Cor.16:1,2.)
